Donya finds joy in service. Through a very tough childhood, she recognized her natural ability to connect with people regardless of background or status, a skill she roots in her love of serving others. Donya was raised in New York by her great grandmother from age 2 after the death of her mother, then moved to Los Angeles at 15.
Despite her early challenges, Donya was convinced there was a better life ahead, but it was up to her to achieve it. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Howard University and a Master of Science Degree in Management from Catholic University – all while working full time. She started a career in Hospitality Management, aligning her talent for connecting with people with her love of service. Donya also took on volunteer work at her local church orienting new people and teaching teenage girls interviewing skills and workplace etiquette.
Donya has turned her “joy of service” into a career with roles in sales, human resources, and client engagement, all nurturing connections through conversation.

She calls that her “purpose” and is the recipe for peace and happiness. It’s easy to see why Donya became the Director of First Impressions at Alterra Advisors.
After several years working in Washington D.C., she now feels at home amid the natural beauty of the pacific northwest. Donya enjoys hiking, exploring the city, reading, working out, and trying new vegan restaurants with the many new friends she’s made.
